Prof. Dr. Kai A. Konrad has been awarded the post of Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Council of the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim.

The Director at the MPI for Tax Law and Public Finance succeeded Professor Friedrich Buttler, the long-standing chairman who resigned at the end of last year.

The Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim is a non-profit and independent research institute. Since its foundation in 1990 it has gained a strong reputation throughout Europe and has become one of the leading economic research institutes in Germany. 

The Scientific Advisory Council monitors and reviews ZEW’s work and plays a significant role in the quality assurance of the institute’s activities regarding research and economic policy advice.
