"Wolfgang Schön Distinguished Lecture" of the EATLP

Professor Charles Gustafson delivered the "Wolfgang Schön Distinguished Lecture" at the 23rd Congress of the Association of European Tax Law Professors (EATLP).

In his online lecture on 3 June 2021, the emeritus professor of law at Georgetown University in Washington DC, USA, addressed "The Elusive Quest for International Tax Fairness: Prologue and Probabilities".

With the newly introduced "Distinguished Lecture", the EATLP (European Association of Tax Law Professors) honours Wolfgang Schön's Chairmanship in 2015-2018. Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Wolfgang Schön has been Director of the Department of Business and Tax Law at the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance (formerly MPI for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax Law) and Honourary Professor at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich since 2002. From 2008 to 2014, he was Vice President of the Max Planck Society and since 2014, he has been Vice President of the German Research Foundation (DFG).

The European Association of Tax Law Professors (EATLP) is an association of professors teaching tax law at European universities. It was founded in 1999 with the aim of developing a common approach to the study of tax issues, harmonising taxes within the European Union and promoting academic teaching and research on international, domestic and comparative taxation at universities across Europe.
