Caroline Heber joins the University of Vienna

PD Dr. Caroline Heber

PD Dr Caroline Heber, a senior research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance, was appointed to a professorship at the University of Vienna. She will take over the chair for tax law in February 2023.

Caroline Heber is a senior research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance and a lecturer at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich since 2013. She studied law at the University of Graz, where she also received her doctorate in 2012. Following this, Caroline Heber completed her Master of Taxation at the University of Sydney, while also working as a research associate at the Ross Parsons Centre of Sydney Law School. In the fall semester of the academic year 2017 – 2018, Caroline was appointed as a Global Emile Noël Fellow at the Jean Monnet Center for International and Regional Economic Law & Justice at NYU School of Law.

In 2020, she received the venia docendi for Fiscal and Tax Law and European Union Law from the University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna). Her post-doctoral thesis on „Enhanced Cooperation and European Tax Law” analyses the possibilities and limits of differentiated integration in the field of European tax law. The thesis was awarded the Albert Hensel Prize of the Deutsche Steuerjuristische Gesellschaft, the Wolfgang Gassner Acacemic Prize, the Kardinal Innitzer Prize, and the Gustav Figdor-Prize from the Austrian Academy of Science.
