Dr. Gustavo Weiss de Resende and others were honoured with the Wolfgang Gassner Science Award 2024 (Sponsorship Award) as part of the Wolfgang Gassner Memorial Lecture at the Vienna University of Economics and Business.

Gustavo Weiss de Resende received the prize for his dissertation, titled "An Answer for Aggressive Tax Planning with Intangibles: Analysis of Royalty Deductibility Barriers and Other Anti-Avoidance Measures against BEPS on IP", which he wrote at the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance.

A scientific jury, consisting of Prof. Caroline Heber, Prof. Daniela Hohenwarter-Mayr, Prof. Georg Kofler and Prof. Karoline Spies, decides on awarding the main and sponsorship prizes. The prize is awarded to post-doctoral theses and dissertations dedicated to international tax law from a legal doctrinal, comparative law or legal policy perspective.
