The Market for Protection and the Origin of the State

Schulden ohne Sühne
European leaders tried to solve the European debt crisis by ever larger rescue packages and by a shift of fiscal decision making power and control from the national to the European level. The authors explain why this policy is likely to fail, offer a solution, and explain why the nexus between government debt and the financial sector has prevented this solution.
