Arrival by plane

Munich International Airport (MUC) is located approx. 28 km from the city centre. From there, you can travel to the city most easily by taking the suburban railway (S-Bahn) lines S1 or S8, departing from the underground level of the airport. Get off the train at “Marienplatz” and change to the underground lines U3 or U6 northbound (direction “Moosach/Garching-Forschungszentrum”). Get off at “Odeonsplatz”. Take the exit for “Hofgarten” and walk 5 minutes through the Hofgarten park in the direction of the “Staatskanzlei”. At the end of the Hofgarten park, bear left and follow the road “Hofgartenstraße”. Shortly before the junction of Hofgartenstraße and the ring road “Karl-Scharnagl-Ring”, turn right into a pedestrian zone. After approximately 50 meters you will reach the road “Marstallstraße“. Follow Marstallstraße for a few meters until you arrive at the Institute (Marstallstraße 8).

If you wish to use public transport for your trip from Munich International Airport to the Institute, you may find further information on available tickets and an electronic timetable on the website of the MVV.
