Together with our Senior Research Fellow Prof. Andrés Baez Moreno, we are delighted to announce his appointment to the Universidad Carlos III in Madrid, Spain, and wish him every success and fulfilment in his new role as full professor of tax law.
Andrés Baez Moreno takes up his new position with immediate effect and will begin teaching at the university at the start of the 2026 summer semester.
He joined us in January 2024 as a Senior Research Fellow and has since enriched the Institute's scientific repertoire with his numerous publications, both as an author and as an editor. His current publications include the editing of the work Taxation of Trusts, Foundations and Similar Arrangements in a Global Setting (forthcoming) and contributions on a wide range of international tax law topics.
We have particularly fond memories of his lectures, which were not only excellent in content, but also delivered with verve and humour – he recently gave a lecture in German at the annual conference of the Tax Law Society in Vienna.
For Prof. Baez Moreno, his appointment is in a sense a homecoming, as his academic career has been marked by long-standing positions at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, where he was an associate professor of tax law from 2011 to 2024. Prior to that, he had already conducted research and taught there as a doctoral student (2000–2003) and assistant professor (2004–2008, 2008–2011). His academic achievements have been recognised with the Frans Vanistendael Award 2022 and the Excellence Award for Young Researchers 2020, among others.
With his current appointment, Baez Moreno returns to the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in a leading position, where he will contribute and further expand his expertise in European and international tax law. We wish him every success in his new role and are delighted that he will remain associated with the Institute as a Research Affiliate.
