The collective security dilemma of preemptive strikes

Author:

Kai A Konrad

In conflict situations, as diverse as the defense of corporations against hostile takeovers, sabotage in internal labor markets, or international conflict actors can forestall an attack by pre-emptively destroying the resources and capabilities of a potential attacker. The analysis studies how the incentives in a group of potential targets of attack depend on the order in which the targets have the option to neutralise individual potential attackers.
