Arrival by plane

Munich International Airport (MUC) is located approx. 28 km from the city centre. From there, you can travel to the city most easily by taking the suburban railway (S-Bahn) lines S1 or S8, which depart from the underground level of the airport. Get off at train at “Marienplatz” and change to the underground lines U3 or U6 northbound (direction “Moosach/Garching-Forschungszentrum”) to “Odeonsplatz”. Take the exit for “Hofgarten” and walk 5 minutes through the Hofgarten park in the direction of the “Staatskanzlei”. At the end of the Hofgarten park, bear right until, after a few meters, you reach the entrance of the Institute (Marstallplatz 1). Room E10 is on the ground floor, on the right.

If you wish to use public transport for your trip from Munich International Airport to the Institute, you may find further information on available tickets and an electronic timetable on the website of the MVV.
