Max Planck Summer School 2023

"The Political Economy of Conflict and Redistribution (PolEcCon)" Summer School 2023 took place from 1 to 4 August at the Harnack-Haus in Berlin.

The School provides research-oriented lectures by senior experts in the field of the Political Economy of Conflict and Redistribution. This year, Prof. Dr. Kai A. Konrad (MPI for Tax Law and Public Finance), Prof. Dan Kovenock, Ph.D. (Economic Science Institute, Chapman University) and Prof. Ronny Razin, Ph.D. (London School of Economics and CEPR) designed the programme. The summer school is aimed at young researchers from all over the world who are at the beginning of their careers in economics and political science.

The keynote lecturers Hannes Rusch (Maastricht University) and Esteban F. Klor (The Hebrew University of Jerusalem) gave exciting insights into their research work in evening lectures. In addition to lectures on theories and experiments in the field and in the laboratory, the 15 participating PhD students had the opportunity to present and discuss their own research and research papers to the whole group. In-depth conversations, discussions and collaboration in small groups set an inspiring framework for the development of joint research projects.
